Eligibility Criteria
• Full time Undergraduate degree in any discipline with a consistent academic record. at +2 level). Candidates awaiting their final year degree
results can also apply.
• Applicants must also submit scores of one (or more) of the following standardized tests: CAT/XAT/GMAT/CMAT/etc.

M.A.General Economics Central University of Tamil Nadu 30+3(EWS) Any graduate of a Recognized University with a minimum of 55% marks for General category, 50% for OBC – Non Creamy Layer, and 45% for SC/ST/PWD candidates and had studied Mathematics or its equivalent  at plus two level.
M.A.Financial Economics 30+3(EWS)

5-Year Integrated Programme

A Five-Year Integrated programme leading to M.A. in Economics is also being offered by the Central University of Tamil Nadu, Thiruvarur in collaboration with Madras School of Economics. The details for this course are given below :

Course University Intake Eligibility
Integrated M.A. Economics (First three years at CUTN, Thiruvarur, Last two years at MSE) The specialisation at MSE will be allotted based on their CGPA in the first three years of study at CUTN. Central University of Tamil Nadu 30 Plus two examination of any recognized Board in India with 60% marks in aggregate for general category, 55% for OBC (non creamy layer) and 50% for SC/ST/PWD candidates. Economics/Mathematics /Statistics at the plus-two level.

Application Procedure for M.A. Economics/M.A. Financial Economics/ M.A. Applied Quantitative Finance / M.A. Actuarial Economics / M.A. Environmental Economics / Integrated M.A. Economics:

Ph.D in Economics

MSE is recognized by both Madras University and Central University of Tamil Nadu, Thiruvarur as an institution in which research work leading to Ph.D. can be conducted. Ph.D. students are selected on the basis of their performance in the entrance examination and a research proposal.

Students admitted to the Ph.D. programme are advised by their respective doctoral committees to take a course work in economic theory, quantitative techniques and in one of the following fields of specialization – International Economics, Capital Markets, Financial Services, Industrial Economics, Energy and Environmental Economics. They also have to write a dissertation. The Ph.D. Scholars will be given an opportunity to interact with foreign and Indian economists during MSE seminars, to visit other research institutions and to participate in the research activities of the school. They are given financial support. However continuation of financial support will be conditional on good academic performance.
