Madras School of Economics offers the following 2-year (4 semester) Post Graduate programmes in collaboration with the Central University of Tamil Nadu, Thiruvarur:

 

M.Sc. Economics
M.Sc. Financial Economics

MSE courses are recognized as advanced courses by academic circles and the market. Campus recruitment takes place in the 4th semester by various leading businesses and other institutions. Our students have been recruited by leading organizations like HSBC, Nathan Associates, IFMR, Citigroup Global Services (CGSL), Hewlett Packard, Symphony, Mu Sigma, Infosys BPO and Genpact.

Any graduate of a recognized University with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate with Economics / Statistics/ Mathematics as one of the subjects.

M.Sc. (Financial Economics)



5-Year Integrated Programme

A Five-Year Integrated programme leading to M.Sc. in Economics is also being offered by the Central University of Tamil Nadu, Thiruvarur in collaboration with Madras School of Economics. The details for this course are given below:

Integrated M.Sc. Economics (First three years at CUTN, Thiruvarur, Last two years at MSE) Central University of Tamil Nadu 50

Plus two examination of any recognized Board in India with 60% marks in aggregate for general category, 55% for OBC (non creamy layer) and 50% for SC/ST candidates. Mathematics or Economics with Business Mathematics at the plus-two level, is preferable.  .


Application Procedure for M.Sc. Economics/M.Sc. Financial Economics/Integrated M.Sc. Economics:

Online applications for Common Entrance Examination will be available on www.cucet.ac.in from 10 am on May 2, 2011. The Last date for receipt of online and offline application is June 4, 2011. Please visit the website of Central University of Tamil Nadu, Thiruvarur (http://www.tiruvarur.tn.nic.in/cutn/) for further details and information.

The Demand Draft should be drawn in favour of “CO-ORDINATOR, CUCET – 2011”, payable at THIRUVARUR, Tamil Nadu. The same form can be used for applying to one or both the courses.

Madras School of Economics offers fellowship of Rs. 2500/- p.m. in M.Sc. Economics and M.Sc. Financial Economics courses. In the first year, these are based on the rank obtained in the entrance examination. Three fellowships each are available for both M.Sc Economics and M.Sc Financial Economics courses.

Admission Test Centres: Ajmer, Allahabad, Bangalore, Belgaum, Bhagalpur, Bhubaneswar, Bikaner, Chennai , Coimbatore. , Darbhanga, Dhanbad, Dharwad, Gulbarga, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Jammu, Jamshedpur, Jodhpur, Kasargod, Kashmir, Kochi, Kolkata, Kota, Kozhikode, Madurai, Mumbai, Mysore, New Delhi, Patna, Ranchi, Silchar, Thiruvanathapuram, Thiruvarur, and Udaipur. If the number of candidates opting for a particular centre is not viable, they will be allocated to the nearest centre. The decision of the convener is final in this regard.

Admission to the above programmes is subject to applicants’ fulfilling the eligibility conditions.

Applicants awaiting results in the qualifying examination may also apply. However, their admission will be subject to their passing and getting the minimum eligible marks in the qualifying examination, the proof of which shall be submitted before the last date fixed for the completion of the admission formalities by the Universities concerned.

Admission to the Central Universities is governed by the Central Educational Institutions (reservation in admission) Act.

The respective University reserves the right to launch or drop any academic programme at any stage.

The candidates belonging to the SC/ST community will get relaxation of 5% in the minimum requirement prescribed by the concerned University.
