| M.Sc.
program in Economics is being offered in collaboration with Anna
University. It consists of 4 Semesters. In the first and second
semesters, the students will learn all the basic theory courses
including Quantitative techniques and Econometrics. Starting from
the second semester the students will get the opportunity to
specialize in any three of the thrust areas such as

Energy Economics |
They also study 2 core papers in Public Economics and Indian Public
Finance in the third and fourth semesters. There is a dissertation
work in the final semester. The enrolment for the course is being
done on the basis of national level competitive entrance exam
conducted by Anna University. The top 3 rankers are provided merit
scholarships.
Eligibility for Admission
B.Sc (Mathematics / Statistics / Computer Science / Physics (with
55%) or B.A (Economics/ B.Com / B.B.A. (with 55%) with +2
Mathematics)
Basis of Selection
Admission to both the courses will be through a
common entrance examination. The syllabus for the entrance
examination is given in the annexure in the application form.
Admission is solely based on the marks secured in the entrance
examination. Minimum entrance marks for admission is 30%. Students
obtaining ranks in the entrance examination will be awarded
fellowship of Rs. 2500/- pm based on merit in the entrance
examination. Three fellowships each are available for both M.Sc
Economics and M.Sc Financial Economics courses.

The same form can be used for applying to one
or both the courses.
Application form for Entrance Examination and admission can be
obtained in person from 19.04.10 from the Examination Centre, Anna
University, Chennai 600 025 on payment by Demand Draft for Rs. 600/-
( Rs. 300/- for Tamil Nadu SC/ST candidates)
Application forms can also be had by post on payment by sending a
Demand Draft for Rs. 600/- (Rs. 300/- for Tamil Nadu SC/ST
candidates) (which includes postal expenses) to The Director
(Admissions), Anna University, Chennai 600 025. The Demand Draft
should be drawn in favour of ‘The Director (Admissions), Anna
University, payable at Chennai obtained on or after 10.05.2010.
